In response to the challenges of international competition, HungaroControl is to set up Central Europe’s only air navigation training, simulation, research and development knowledge centre, the services of which will be available to any air navigation service provider.
The main components of HungaroControl’s knowledge centre include the Entry Point Central academy for training air traffic controllers; CRDS, Central Europe’s largest Centre of Research, Development and Simulation equipped with state-of-the-art technology; and a 3D tower simulator. As an important part of the knowledge centre, a contingency control centre (ANS I) will be developed and equipped with real-time simulation capability, as well as a virtual tower also suitable for remote control, which will be completed in 2018. There is increased international attention on the development of HungaroControl’s new procedures and methods to assist air traffic control: the new Build 10 version of the state-of-the-art air navigation system MATIAS (Magyar Automated and Integrated Air Traffic System), and the MergeStrip air traffic planning procedure, which supports continuous descent operations. HungaroControl’s Aviation Library is Hungary’s only air navigation document archive open to interested non-professionals.
