HungaroControl's presentations at the Aviation Festival
Enhanced tower control service powered by remote tower technology (round table discussion)
Moderator: Mr. Csaba Gergely ATCO DSV (Air Traffic Controller Duty Supervisor) at HungaroControl
Date: June 13, 12:20
Moderator's bio: Mr Csaba Gergely is an active ATCO DSV and also graduated economist. He has experience of airport ATM for 29 years including 16 years as the Head of Tower at Budapest Airport. His role in HungaroControl’s remote tower (rTWR) program was to help design and plan the remote system structure, TWR facility and procedures. He contributed in the creation of the safety case and as a head of TWR he was responsible to create the test team of Air Traffic Controllers for system testing. Csaba Gergely also participated in the rTWR system installation, took active part of test and live operations. The main challenge of the project was to create a rTWR operation at a middle size and complex layout airport at Budapest which is still a unique operational rTWR installation worldwide.
How simulation and validation services can help your airport development (presentation)

Mr Daniel Rohacs, PhD - Head of Research, Development and Simulation Department at HungaroControl
He is the Head of Research, Development and Simulation Department at HungaroControl and being responsible for the research, development, innovation, simulation and validation activities. This role covers innovative, disruptive & sustaining technology, system and operational concept development, being investigated in-house or in collaboration with our national as well as international partners.
He is also the Head of Department of Aeronautics, Naval Architecture and Railway Vehicles and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He takes part in several EU FP6, FP7, H2020 projects. He has EU project coordination and management experience.
Prior joining to HungaroControl, he had various positions at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and founding as well as leading several SMEs related to R&D activities in air transportation. He was a doctoral researcher at the EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre, followed docotral studies at the Sorbonne University, and Princeton University. He also completed made the MIT Venture Mentoring Service Training Programme. He is a member of UAVNET, EASN, ACARE WG1, and the Transportation and Vehicles Engineering Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Mr Gabor Papp - Head of Simulation and Validation Unit at HungaroControl
As the Head of Simulation and Validation Unit his role is to build business by identifying future simulation and research needs, to analyse sales options, to maintain good relationship with HungaroControl’s partners and to offer services to them. At the same time he has to ensure that HungaroControl’s tower, radar and cockpit simulator facilities run properly.
He has been working in the simulation industry since the inauguration of CRDS (Centre of Research, Development and Simulation) in 2011, where he started his career as a Simulation Specialist. Two years later he became Simulator Manager then Sales Manager. Should the need arise he is able to perform operational tasks as well (e.g. setting up fast-time and real-time simulations, creating traffic samples, designing scenarios).
He holds a Master's Degree in Economics and he has an air traffic controller background too, so he can go into detailed discussions both in financial and professional topics.
