OUR SOLUTIONS

WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAXIMIZE BENEFITS FOR AIRSPACE USERS

We are consciously preparing for continuous challenges of ATM industry. Therefore, besides developing our core activities, we make tremendous efforts to find new solutions in our Research & Development Centre, and implement services in order to maximize benefits for every airspace user.

REMOTE TOWER – TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS

Remote Tower aims to enable ANSPs to control airport traffic independently from tower building with the help of a virtual surface. Our remote tower concept has achieved considerable success on the international market. For example, the  contingency control centre at Dubai International Airport (DXB) is being implemented according to the proposals of a consortium of five companies, including HungaroControl.
Our concept is built on integrating our existing ground surveillance system with a network of distributed cameras, aiming to enhance not only situational awareness, but also safety levels.
As a result of the innovation aviation becomes even safer and also the situational awareness of air traffic controllers can be improved.
We aim to operate a remote contingency tower in Budapest in 2017 and a full-time remote tower as of 2019.
‘I naturally encourage every innovation, this time HungaroControl dared to dream big, and was the first among the world’s medium-sized and medium-capacity airports to develop a remote tower solution. This 21st century innovation is not only giving answer for the actual challenges at the air navigation systems but it is also a pioneer in the sector. The success of the project was guaranteed by HungaroControl’s professionalism, reliability and commitment.’ - said Miklós Seszták, dr., Minister for National Development in Hungary.

We can help you to have your own Remote Tower solution fitting to your unique requirements:

  • Problem definition
  • Concept preparation
  • Concept validation

CENTRE OF RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND SIMULATION (CRDS)

CRDS is our research, development and simulation centre operating Central Europe’s largest advanced air navigation simulation facility. It provides real-time and fast-time   validation projects, training simulations and consultancy services for airports, air navigation service providers, functional airspace blocks and other interested parties.

  • Large-scale simulations up to 34 controller working positions and 27 pilot working positions
  • 90% human-machine interface (HMI) similarity in the simulation environment
  • Validation in accordance with European Operational Concept Validation Methodology

CRDS capabilities:

  • ATM system development and HMI prototyping
  • Validation of new technologies and solutions (e.g. Free Route Airspace, Performance Based Navigation, Controller-Pilot Data-Link Communication)
  • Validation of new operational concepts
  • Validation of new supporting tools & devices (e.g. MergeStrip)
  • Human Factors assessment capabilities
  • Modelling, simulating and analysing unusual, emergency and extreme situations
  • Integrating Remotely Piloted Air Vehicles in the civil airspace
  • GENSPACE: ATC Simulation for non-ATCO staff

MERGESTRIP – THE GREEN WAY TO REDUCE FUEL BURN, CO2, AND NOISE

To facilitate continuous descent approaches, we have developed the MergeStrip, a new air traffic planning concept which helps air traffic controllers to schedule arriving traffic in a more effective way, thereby reducing fuel burn, CO2 emissions, and the noise load on people living near airports.
MergeStrip allocates aircraft preparing to land at a specific airport to a “number line” taking into account their actual position and speed. This helps controllers to plan more effectively, and makes their workflow more predictable.
MergeStrip brings a brand new way of representation of the current traffic situation, both horizontally and vertically with the only requirement of 3 waypoints in the TMA.
